Signature Colors #30 of 30in30 SOLD!
Signature Colors 6x6 oil on Ray Mar panel $150.00
Every lobsterman has buoys such as this one that mark the location of all their traps. Each lobsterman's buoys are a certain color or combination of colors. Their signature colors.
I just love all the different colors of lobster buoys. When I am out on a boat in the harbor I will try to get photos of the different buoys. I love the reflections they make and the way they bob on the waves.
I had hoped to go out today to paint in one of my favorite locations but that did not work out. I will save it for another day. In the mean time I had fun painting this one.
This is day 30 of the painting challenge. Even though this is the last day I hope that you will continue to visit my blog as I intend to visit yours. It has been a lot of fun getting to know the other artists work and see their progress. See you again!

Public Transportation
Public Transportation 6x8 oil on panel
I saw this scene when I was down at the beach last week plein air painting. I was in my car headed for home and I saw this bike parked outside the post office. The colors, the light, were all things I couldn't resist! I took a photo and worked on this today. A little different than my usual subjects but I really had fun with this! I hope you enjoy it. Thanks for stopping in for a visit!

7A.M. From the Ferry - Day 24 of the 30 paintings in 30 Days
7 A.M. From the Ferry 6x6 oil on Ray Mar panel
This painting is from a photo I took from the deck of the Monhegan Island ferry. I always take the earliest ferry possible when I am headed out there. That maximizes my time on the island on travel day. It is always such an exciting time to be pulling away from the pier as the engines on the boat rev up and the morning light is striking everything in it's path. Monhegan here I come!

Making the Sun Shine on a Rainy Day SOLD1
The Greeting Party 6x8 on canvas panel
It was pouring rain this morning and very windy too. I decided to use an old photo of a lupine field
and combine it with some imaginary sun and blue skies today.

Yellow Traps SOLD
Yellow Traps 6x8 oil on panel
In recent years lobster traps started to come in bright colors such as these yellow ones. In some ways it has made it a lot more fun for painters who like color. Lobster traps used to be made out of wood but they needed to be replaced more often because the wood rotted more quickly in the salt water. Now they are made of wire that is covered with this brightly colored coating.
